เกม นี้ จะเป็นเกมแนว Action Adventure เมื่อเริ่มเกม เราจะรับบทเป็น Jake เป็นมนุษย์ที่จะต้องใช้ร่าง Avatar เพื่อที่จะเข้าไปเรียนรู้การใช้ชีวิตของชนเผ่า Na’vi เช่น การดำรงชีวิต การขี่ม้า การต่อสู้ การล่าสัตว์ และปริศนาที่รอให้เราเข้าไปแก้ไข การควบคุมก็จะมีปุ่มบังคับทิศทางอยู่ด้านมุมซ้ายล่าง และปุ่ม Action ที่อยู่ทางมุมขวาล่าง
